Our Granada green is aptly named, though you may not know why. The first reason is simply because granada means pomegranate in Spanish and our GG is chockfull of delicious pomegranate.
But on top of that, Granada itself has a rich history with tea. Granada is located in Andalucía, España, the most Southern of Spanish provinces and the last territory to be held by the Moors before their expulsion from the Iberian peninsula. As a result, Andalucía, and in particular Granada, has an overwhelming Moorish influence, in its architecture, in its language, and in its beverage choices.
Granada’s teterías (sounds funny, just means tea house in Spanish) are clustered in one of the city’s oldest quarters, El Albaicín, on the Calle de la Calderería. The street is lined with teterias and bakeries selling delicious Moorish delicacies. Once you enter one of the teterías, you are shown to a embroidered cushion on the floor and given a tea menu hundreds of choices long. It is quite easy to be transported to another world as you sip your chosen brew.
Our Granada Green pays homage to both these influences then - the tea houses of Granada and the pomegranate itself!
